Transportation To And From Airlines At JFK Terminal 4 Parking Garages
Daily maximums for short-term parking near the terminals at JFK range from $36 to $42, while daily maximums for long-term parking in economy lots are set at $20. The parking lots here are linked to the terminals by an AirTrain system. Parking spots can be reserved in advance via the website.
The Jamaica and Howard Beach subway stations, the airport’s parking lots, the rental car center, and the hotel shuttle pickup area are all linked to the terminals via the JFK AirTrain. You can ride for free unless your trip begins or ends at a subway or bus station, in which case you’ll need a MetroCard and will be charged $7.75.
Take the E, J, or Z lines from Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens to the Jamaica station on the Long Island Rail Road or the A to Howard Beach, and transfer to the AirTrain to your terminal.

Taxis from JFK to Manhattan cost a flat rate of $52 (plus tip and toll costs), but prices to other parts of the city and for ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft vary. Shuttles for groups are also available.

The TWA Hotel, located on the airport grounds and famous for its classic 1960s design and rooftop pool overlooking the airport, is, nonetheless, the most excellent hotel at JFK.
Airport Terminals At John F. Kennedy International
A spaghetti-like network of highways inside JFK connects Interstate 678 and the JFK Expressway to the airport’s five terminals. Terminals 3, 6, and 8 were demolished years ago to make room for expansion projects.
However, Terminals 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8 are still used today. The new Terminal 1 at Airlines At JFK Terminal 4 will be built on the present and former sites of Terminals 1, 2, and 3.
Terminal 1
Each of Terminal 1’s 14 gates is numbered from 1 to 14. Gates 1 through 4 is located in Terminal 2, while gates 5A through 12 are located in Terminal 3.
Check-in counters can be found on the departure level; a food court can be found on the mezzanine; the concourse level houses the security checkpoint, airline lounges, shops, and departure gates, and the arrivals level houses baggage claim, immigration, access to ground transportation, and other services.
Terminal 2
Gates C60–C70 is located in Terminal 2. A security checkpoint, numerous retail outlets, and the exclusive Delta Sky Club can all be found there.
The lowest floor is where you will find the baggage claim. There is no AirTrain link to Terminal 2. However, a Jitney bus runs between T2 and T4, where travelers can transfer to their final destination.
Level 4 Check-in, Terminal 4
Terminal 4, on the airport’s southern side, is home to 31 gates across two concourses (A and B). There are four distinct sections in the terminal:
- The departure level houses check-in counters and airline lounges.
- The concourse level houses the security checkpoint, a pet relief area, shops, bars, restaurants, and most departure gates.
- The arrivals level houses baggage claim, a restaurant, and a takeout food stall.
Hallway A, Terminal 4
You’ll find Gates A2–A6 on Terminal 4’s Concourse A, which is on the terminal’s eastern side. You’ll find most of the airport’s shops and eateries between the two terminals, Concourses A and B.
The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, Air India Maharaja Lounge, and Emirates Lounge are all located on the upper level of Concourse A.

Twenty-five gates in Concourse B are located on the western end of Terminal 4. These gates are labeled B20 through B39, B41 through B44, and B51.
The lower level of the terminal’s concourse concludes with Gates B42 through B51. An elevated Delta Sky Club can be found on Concourse B, and moving walkways extend throughout the majority of the length of the terminal.
Terminal 5
There are 28 gates and three sections in Terminal 5. The Skywalk contains moving walkways that connect the AirTrain to the terminal. The departure level features the airport’s security checkpoint, shops, a food court, an outdoor garden, and the actual departure gates.
The baggage claim, a few quick-service restaurants, the entrance to the terminal’s ground transportation, and the connection to the Saarinen Terminal, where the TWA Hotel is located, are all located on the arrivals level.
Terminal 7
The concourses and gates at Terminal 7 number in the tens. Check-in counters and the security checkpoint are on the departure level, while the concourse houses dining options, retail stores, the Alaska Lounge, pet relief areas, and the departure gates. Finally, the arrivals level is home to baggage claim, a few shops and kiosks, and the terminal’s ground transportation system entrance.
Terminal 8
The gates of Terminal 8 are numbered from 1 to 31, except gates 35 and 36, which are unnumbered. Check-in counters and the security checkpoint for access to Concourse B are located on the departure level. After you pass through security, you may find the joint British Airways and American Airlines Chelsea, Soho, and Greenwich lounges on the top deck.
Underground, you’ll find a tunnel outfitted with moving walkways that will take you to Concourse C. Both concourses feature stores, bars, and restaurants, while the upper level features an Admirals Club lounge.
